Powered by GoogleThe facilities are great but good luck getting any sort of help from the front desk. I had to pull teeth to register my son for camp and swimming this week. Two separate times the front desk workers didn't greet me, couldn't answer my questions. One went to get a manager to help me and then came back and sat in the chair and didn't say anything. I had to ask "is the manager not here?" After SHE offered to check... Today several employees were standing around talking about running errands, again not greeting anyone, not assisting with paper work. No "how can I help you" but "do you need something?" And a weird attitude when I asked questions about the activity
I don't have enough nice things to say about the folks at the DISC. The facility is clean, and the staff care. I highly recommend the classes and the trainers. I've been a member of other gyms in Decatur, and the DISC by far is the best facility for personal training and HIIT exercises. A great bang for your buck if you are a Millikin alumni, too!
The DISC has been such a lifesaver to me over the past few years. I have found a wonderful community of like minded-minded fitness friends to help me on my fitness journey. The DISC has a wide variety of workout classes, fitness equipment and incredible staff to help accommodate every type of fitness need. No judgements … just help and education whenever needed. It’s a bonus that the instructors clearly love what they do and want to help you find the routine and class that suits the needs you have and want. It’s like family . Every one should give this club a try.
LASER TAG BIRTHDAY PARTY. We just had my son's 9th birthday here. Overall, it was a great party, and the kids had a blast. The lady I spoke with on the phone to set up the party was very nice and easy going. All the staff there were very nice (front desk, host that brought us to the room, and the girls that ran the laser tag games) The 3 ladies that ran the games were great with the kids! They did let me know on the phone ahead of time that there is no A/C down in the gym (where the laser tag games would be played) but they do have fans and that the party room(upstairs) has A/C. When we arrived at the party room it was very hot as well. We asked the staff twice to turn the A/C down to make it cooler. They were very nice and did so both times. However, by this point, there was no way that room was going to get any cooler... it stayed around 78. Conclusion, we were HOT but the party went well, and the kids had a great time. Next time, I will call about an hour ahead and ask them to shut the door to the party room and turn on the A/C lower so that by the time everyone arrives it is cooled down. Thank you for a great party.
The DISC is a good place to exercise. It has nice workout areas with a variety of equipment, including: free weights, weight machines, ellipticals, treadmills, stationary bikes and rowing machines. There is a 1/8 mile track for walkers and runners. The facilities are clean and quite nicely organized. The weight room, in particular, is rarely crowded. I may have to move to another machine, but I never have to wait in line to workout. The fees are reasonable. Discounts are available to students, Millikin University alumni and seniors. There are a couple of drawbacks. One is holiday and summer hours are somewhat restricted. The other is staff is rarely available to explain equipment functions or monitor activities. The positive factors outweigh these negatives for me. I recommend the DISC.
