Dance Project of Washington Heights runs Caring for Our World, a summer dance camp for children ages 4-12 with a new theme each week in which campers create original dances about caring for themselves, others, animals, and the planet; families can enroll for one week or the whole summer. The nonprofit also runs February and April vacation camps that mix dance styles with dance history and workshops in anatomy, nutrition, and arts and crafts, plus year-round classes and audition-based performance ensembles for ages 9-18. It uses a tiered, pay-what-you-can tuition system explicitly designed to remove cost as a barrier, and is based at 350 Fort Washington Avenue.

DPWH is such a blessing in our community! My child has joined their camp and just started ballet, and it was so heartwarming to see the studio full of kids, families, and so much energy. The teachers are incredible: caring, talented, and truly passionate about what they do. We feel lucky to have this space bringing people together!

A great neighborhood studio! I’ve connected with many local artists here and the staff is very kind and responsive. Awesome location right off the A train and super affordable rental prices. So much better than traveling downtown for studio space.
