CSz Richmond Theater, home of ComedySportz for over 25 years, runs week-long improv comedy day camps at 8906-H W. Broad Street, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Campers spend five days learning improv fundamentals through the same fast-paced, family-friendly games used in the professional ComedySportz shows, working on scene work, character-driven storytelling, and 'Yes, And' listening with professional improvisers. Separate sessions run for elementary-age children and rising 6th-8th graders.

I went ahead and purchased some tickets for my spouse's birthday, since we've been getting into the tabletop game recently. It was engaging, comedic, and organic. We also appreciate how affordable it was, we'd absolutely consider going to another in the future. They had drinks, but I don't recall them selling anything else like food, or snacks; however, the location is near a few restaurants in case you want to grab something to eat before a performance.

What amazed me was all the children in the audience and how they were encouraged to participate. Everyone had a splendid time. The focus was on the show and not on drinking and eating. The actors knew how to project their voices and how to use their bodies to tell the story. It was also an inexpensive show and quite delightful. I have already bought tickets for the next one. Go to an early show or if you are looking for a more adult experience try a late night one!

Comedy Sportz (CSz) puts on a variety of shows including but not limited to Open Mic, Stand-Up Routines, Competitive Improv, Adult (late Night Laughs) Improv, Sensory Friendly Improv, and special programs like Die of the Beholder, All Skate, and others. They have a wide breath of participants that put on the shows as well. Something to keep in mind when attending many of their shows All Skate, Late Night Laughs, Comedy Sportz match, and many of the others are a live unscripted Comedy Show that is guided by suggestions from the audience; so if you have a lively, creative, and interactive audience it makes the shows a lot more fun. The Csz crew really feeds off the intensity of the audience and some night attendance is higher than others. Overall it is an inexpensive night out, a lot of fun, and the people are just super people.
