Community Sailing of Colorado is a nonprofit whose Boulder youth programs sit alongside its Cherry Creek Reservoir camps, running a laddered set of summer sailing camps by age and experience: Little Puffs for 5- and 6-year-olds, Younger Learn to Sail for ages 7-9, Older Learn to Sail for ages 10 and up, Teens Only for ages 13 and up, and intermediate and advanced camps for experienced sailors. Boulder programming also includes a Windsurf + SUP + Kayak camp for children 9 and up. Across its camps the organization serves children from ages 5 to 17.

Powered by GoogleSigned my son up for a beginner camp and honestly it was the worst sailing experience he ever had. Unfortunately it was very very hot (nearly 100 degrees) and there wasn’t any wind or shade at the boulder reservoir. Second, the bacterial counts were so high that they couldn’t even go in the water. When I picked him up in the afternoons he was lethargic, bored and was close to having heat exhaustion. I emailed the Executive Director with my concerns which were completely dismissed. For the cost of this program ($550) I would have expected much more. Really sad how unresponsive and defensive the ED was towards my concerns. There are better places and locations to teach your kids to sail….
Awesome program all across the board! So great that our kids can learn to sail in a state where water sports aren't as prevalent. Free family sail nights are also a lot of fun at Boulder Reservoir.
