The Community Boating Center is a New Bedford nonprofit whose Summer Youth Sailing Program takes children ages 5–18 out on Buzzards Bay, welcoming both first-timers and kids with a few summers of experience. The eight-week program runs five days a week and serves a little over 100 children weekly, grouping students by age to learn or build on sailing basics while studying the bay around them. Financial aid is available for those who qualify and the organization states it turns no one away for inability to pay.
