One star is generous for the experience we have had with Club V - Salt City Boys - Salty 15s team and its coaching staff. I am a former coach under Club V South and this program and its coaching was the worst club experience I have seen. My son played as a 14-year-old on the Salty 15s team coached by Rob Mendenhall. We were sold an experience centered around high-level coaching, development, leadership, and opportunity, but our experience did not align with those expectations and we are very disappointed in the program and its staff. At the SoCal tournament in Los Angeles, multiple coaches and staff members, including: JJ, Marcus, Kai, Taylor, and Rob, spent time during active match play watching another sporting event on their phones while seated on the bench “coaching” the team. I have video and photo documentation of this and it’s been posted. The team carried 11 players while operating a 5/1 rotation with 3 middles, significantly limiting developmental reps and meaningful court time for middle blockers. When asked if other rotations had been attempted I was scoffed at, when asked if there was measurable stats to support the rotation nothing was provided. Despite a $4,000 club fee, plus additional $200-$400 tournament fee each tournament and travel expenses. We were never provided measurable player statistics, developmental benchmarks, or objective evaluation metrics. Just told that the best kids play. Practices consisted heavily of 6v6 play with limited technical instruction, positional feedback or breakdown, and lacks measurable player development. When players asked for feedback or guidance on improvement, responses were often vague or redirected back to the athlete rather than coached directly. Our experience lacked the structure, communication, accountability, and developmental leadership we expected at this level of club volleyball. I do not recommend any of these coaches. Families considering this program should ask detailed questions up front regarding roster size, systems, developmental philosophy, player evaluation methods, and expected role opportunities before committing financially. Make sure to watch your kids practices and make sure you are prepared to actively engage in what you are sold. Bottom line. I would not recommend this club.

This place is an absolute JOKE! Worst place for a volleyball tournament. No parking. No seating. Single file to even try to get to a court. God help you if you have a disability and are in a wheelchair or walker. So loud! Nets between courts don’t even go up to the ceiling so you WILL get hit with a stray ball. Cheap, crappy floors. Filthy bathrooms. The owner should be ashamed.

UPDATE: 2/26 My daughters began academy skills training a few months ago. The facility is excellent, and the coaching has made a noticeable impact on their performance compared to our previous club. The coaches focus on breaking down the fundamentals, helping players understand proper foot and hand/arm placement on the court. I highly recommend this program for anyone looking to help their player improve in volleyball. This is a secret spot. Worked out with my trainer and the facility is excellent!

If you're looking for a club for your child, this is the place! They genuinely love teaching and mentoring youth volleyball skills. Nice facility with a lot of courts. Seating can be a little hard. Just make sure you come prepared to either sit on a bleacher, your own chair or stand and watch. It can get pretty loud in there and crowded. Parking isn't bad if you arrive early. Would be nice if there were two sets of bathrooms instead of just the one. They are upgrading the food choices and this will be the home of LOVB, the professional womens volleyball team here in Utah.

Great facility! We've watched our boys play lots of games here. Love the hardwood courts at the ends, much better than the click together stuff. Fun venue for tournaments for both basketball and volleyball. We've never been on a club V team, but we've had many games against them. They seem to always put competitive teams out there. I've appreciated that their sportsmanship in basketball seems to have improved quite a bit from some of our matchups with them a couple years ago.
