It should have been 6 but my parents waited too long to sign me up and camp was full already and I was made to go to Red Pine which was one of the worst summers of my life, due to all the harsh bullying. Clearwater is where I found friends and family in the other campers and the counselors. They helped me overcome my shyness, my fear of speaking to others, my fear of making friends, and learn what it meant to have confidence for the first time in my life. Sunny was a huge part of camp and her smile and her love graced all of us campers. She was the beacon of hope and love and honesty and ladylike behavior. She taught me so much in each one of my summers. I would spend all summer at Clearwater not just half the season. I learned and mastered waterskiing, wakeboarding, and even barefooting. I mastered sailing, kayaking, archery and horseback riding. I loved going on our big yearly summer trips of either canoeing or hiking, which were sometimes mentally and physically challenging but worth every moment. left my camping years with such confidence and still speak to my Clearwater sisters to this day at 39! I can’t wait to send my own daughter here one day and will always have the highest respect and love for this organization of women. No better place to send your daughter to become a nature lover, a better friend, grow more confidence, accomplish things she can be proud of for a lifetime, and become a respectable young lady! So many Clearwater Alumni will agree. These summers were fundamental in building our character and helped shape the women we’ve all become!!! Clearwater daughter for life!

The community preaches female empowerment and togetherness, while still maintaining an environment that only accepts upper class, straight white girls.
