City SC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit soccer club in Carlsbad whose recreational summer camps give players ages 5-12 four days of technical work -- dribbling, shielding, passing and receiving, first touch, crossing and finishing -- folded into small-sided games and a week-long "World Cup" tournament. Six camp weeks run from early June through early August at Aviara Community Park, each meeting 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, which makes this a half-day program; campers bring their own ball, snacks and water, and a t-shirt is included. Camps are overseen by the club's directors of coaching and staffed by its professional coaches.

Powered by GoogleIMHO this is the worst club in SD county. As a former member for 6 years this is what I saw. Male coaches get stupid drunk with young teen female players (I have video), club rules are selectively enforced depending on who your kid is on the team. Very little feedback from coaches, virtually no concern for player safety (playing in 104 heat with no safety equipment when people go down from heat stroke) and then the teams itself are very clicky. So if you like all that then City SC is for you, if not then I would look elsewhere.
Disappointed, my 9 year old daughter decided to sign with them prior to try outs. I paid for the season and then she was required to go to try outs, which quickly made her realize this wasn’t the club for her. The girls director was already demanding she be at practices and we were still in season with another club. The morning after try outs she realized that she would rather sit out then play without her friends. I contacted the coach telling him she wants to stay with her friends and asked for a refund. It’s now been 3 months and I received this email from the director. They’re keeping $1031 for two days of soccer and as of last night are telling us they will not refund any of it. The excuse of he had other keepers and both were at try outs because the coach had told us it was because he didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, so the excuse their using isn’t valid. Be careful do not sign and pay up front with them. Do a long payment plan so you don’t lose so much money.
The coaches at LA Galaxy San Diego are highly qualified and have a passion for teaching kids to play soccer the RIGHT way! We have had a an excellent experience with this club over the past 5 years; our kids have been challenged, engaged, and motivated and they keep improving season after season!
La Galaxy San Diego has been a super experience. My daughter loved the camp she attended a couple months ago, everything went so smoothly and she loved her coach and team. She just had her first practice for fall soccer and loved it. She is so excited for the upcoming season. I have been impressed with all the professionals involved. They truly care about the organization and players. It looks like I am officially a "soccer mom"!
LA Galaxy San Diego is a great organization for recreational soccer. Both of my kids have really enjoyed playing soccer for the past several years. Being a parent and a coach, it is wonderful to see the kids out having a great time and also learning and improving their soccer skills each week. We also appreciate that the games start on time, which is important when managing busy schedules for our family.
