Children's Theatre of Elgin and Fox Valley Theatre Company is a nonprofit in residence at the Elgin Community College Arts Center that runs a slate of summer theatre camps for ages 4-17. Half-day options include Tiny Thespians (ages 4-7), built around games, music, movement and imaginative play ending in a low-pressure showcase, and Dance for Theatre in separate morning (ages 7-11) and afternoon (ages 12-17) sections. Full-day camps run longer and build to a performance: Let's Do A Musical! (ages 8-15, three weeks) and Let's Do A Play! (ages 8-15, two weeks), plus Movie Production Basics (ages 12-17), where teens write, film, direct and edit a finished short film. Registration opens April 1 and closes one week before each camp, and scholarships are available on request.
