★★★★★Joan Pringlei recently visited this YMCA. A few years ago i had a serious accident that put me in a wheelchair. During that time i gained a significant amount of weight and created some unhealthy eating practice. i called the y and spoke with Caleb and explained my circumstance and what i wanted to accomplish. i was afraid that because of my disability that the ymca may not be some place for me. i was happily mistaken Caleb was very encouraging and assured me that there were classes and equipment that could be adapted to my needs. He told me to come check it out and to speak to Jessica who is their health and membership person. she was very helpful we picked 2 classes that would fit my goals and helped set a date she would be available to show my husband and I how to use the equipment. If you have fitness and health goals regardless of where you are starting or how far you have to go; these are the people you want on your team. i highly recommend this place
★★★★★Abigail ThomasThis gym is excellent! I'm visiting my parents from out of state, and they thought the ymca in Shelby would be better, but they were wrong! This one is so clean and spacious. Nothing is left to be desired, and you can get a full workout in. When visiting from out of state, you'll need to sign a waiver for the first visit, and it will cover subsequent visits up to 30 days, I believe.

Life guards are always helpful and friendly to the kids. It would be great if there were a full-size swimming pool for laps/ fitness in addition the outdoor pool for play during the summer. Shower facilities are fully functional but a bit outdated.
