Central Park Recreation Center is one of 18 City of Birmingham Parks and Recreation sites hosting the department's summer day camp for children ages 5-12. The full-summer program includes arts and crafts, sports such as basketball, baseball and soccer, dance, field trips and daily meals. Enrollment is open to residents and non-residents.

★★★★★Pam StokerI attended Central Park Kindergarten 1957-1959 in this building for my Pre-K and Kinder years. Our tiny playground (8 ft slide, dome jungle gym, and merry-go-round, all made from US Steel) was in the north curved grassy area across the street from the now-closed Central Park Library (beige brick structure). After stopping to check out library books, we walked across the narrow street to the drug store (now Jackson Ministries) soda fountain for a lime rickey. I’m so pleased to see the now expanded Central Park Recreation Center with the beautiful ball fields and tennis courts spanning all the way to Central Park Elementary School. I hope families will love this area as much as I did and make good memories for many years to come! 💕⚽️⚾️🏈🎾📚🥤🌈😎
