Cedar Springs Camp Bothell

Quite disappointed and this needs to be shared. They have VERY limited information about their beliefs listed on their website. After speaking with them and having concerns about my LGBTQ kiddos, they are aligned with Assembly of God/Evangelical/Pentecostal. Which that religion believes homosexuality is a sin, dancing is a sin and they speak in tongues as examples. That is something that should be shared upfront so other folks aren’t bamboozled like we are. Their day camp is less religious but their overnight camp is quite religious in comparison. I’m glad I called and asked ahead of time. But now I have 2 VERY disappointed and upset children who were looking forward to overnight camp but we are obviously uncomfortable and won’t allow them to go. I am all for folks believing in whatever they want but you guys need to update your website and give more information on this. I searched high and low for info and only found you connect to Jesus and believe in God. That is very vague after what I later found out. They were kind enough to waive cancellation fees and whatnot are going to allow our kiddos to do day camp instead, which I am grateful for. But I am still feeling quite misled and disappointed. This will, unfortunately, be our last year. They had fun at day camp last year though— so this review isn’t all bad.

False advertising all the way. Signed my kids for the art camp because It looks wonderful in their brochure. This is what really happens: Kids arrive and spend more than 1 hour everyday inside a stuffy chapel being proselytized to. They seem to chose the worst possible bible stories, by the way, just completely inappropriate. After that, the kids are marched into tiny classrooms and given some paint supplies. A teenager, probably volunteer church goer, watches over them. No art instruction of any kind. From there they are marched into another tiny room with a tv where they wait for parents to come pickup. That’s the “wonderful” summer camp experience at Cedar Springs. The whole week my girls were there the weather was sunny and hot. Absolutely no excuse for not having the outdoor “painting nature” they advertise. If you are veeeeeery religious and just want to get rid of your kids for the day, go ahead. Otherwise, I’m sure for the money you can find much better options. They must at least add the info that this is a religious indoctrination camp to their brochures.

Excellent camp for kids. A different selection each week allows my boys to try different activities. The staff is funny and helpful. This is our second year back! Recommend all the camps!

The retards that run the summer camps here are power mad and mentally insecure. They care soooo much about themselves that they hit misbehaving children because it's "the word of god" they also make us pray even when we're atheist. If I were to recommend a camp it would be the YMCA there is only one counselor that is good here and that is someone I can't name. there all a bunch of retards, there way to over protective and even if ur different religion you have to listen to them reading about the Bible. All they talk about is how god is amazing and great. I would not recommend this camp.

I signed up my children for this camp after reading through the website and seeing all of the fun activities. It was only through another mom that I found out (luckily before the camp date) that it is a Christian based camp. I called them and they confirmed that the kids do chapel everyday and that their faith beliefs are shared with campers. I asked them to please put information about this on their website so that people can make decisions based on their own faith systems.
