Camp Walden is a seven-week residential camp for girls in the woods near Denmark, established in 1916 and kept small at about 150 campers. Girls ages 8–15 take part in wilderness trips plus water sports (swimming, sailing, canoeing, waterskiing), land sports (tennis, riding, soccer, lacrosse, gymnastics), and arts.

There is something special about Walden...it is steeped in tradition and grounded in the values of building friendship and strong, self-confident young women. When I talk with women who had attended Walden as kids, I hear over and over again how their Walden friends are still their best friends...and I know that will be the same for our daughter. The programming is wonderful particularly the outdoor camping program which emphasizes extended canoeing and hiking trips. It gives me such a good feeling when our daughter can tell me she has climbed a mountain and how inspired she was by the view at the top. The theater arts program at Walden is wonderful as are the waterfront, tennis, horse back riding, ropes and arts and crafts program. If you are looking for a camp that has pristine cabins with electrical outlets at every bedside, then Walden is not the camp for your daughter. But if you want a camp that will bring out the best in your daughter every summer and beyond then Walden is for you.
