Camp Courage is a privately funded nonprofit providing a free week-long outdoor overnight camp for children diagnosed with cancer, housed at the Balarat Outdoor Education Center near Jamestown, about 50 miles northwest of Denver at 7,500 feet in the foothills outside Boulder. Campers stay in a lodge with access to 700 acres of mountain terrain and take part in fishing in an on-site pond, a zip line, the Big Swing, a high ropes course, archery, horseback riding, boating, camp crafts and hiking. The camp deliberately does not centre on cancer, aiming instead to let kids be kids for a week of outdoor adventure.
