Camp Cho-Yeh is a Christian overnight summer camp and retreat center on 700 wooded acres in Livingston, about an hour north of Houston, established in 1947. It welcomes boys and girls ages 6-16 for one- or two-week sessions with activities such as archery, paintball, horseback riding, riflery, wakeboarding, waterskiing and 'blobbing,' alongside faith-based programming. It is ACA-accredited.

★Shayla YeungI was really disappointed to learn how restrictive Camp Cho-Yeh’s family programming is. The structure feels outdated and unnecessarily limiting, especially for families that don’t fit into their very specific mold. If a father wants to take his daughter camping, that’s not an option. If both parents want to attend with their kids together as a family, that’s also not an option. And if your family happens to have only boys or only girls, you’re essentially excluded from half of what they offer. That doesn’t feel inclusive or welcoming at all. In 2026, it’s frustrating to see a place still operating with such rigid, gender-based divisions for something as simple as family bonding. Families come in all shapes and dynamics, and this structure completely overlooks that reality. There should be opportunities for entire families to participate together without being forced into narrow categories. As it stands, this setup feels out of touch and not accommodating to many families. Reply: I understand it is supposed to focus on one-one bonding, but this completely eliminates the possibility of me and my son participating. (Since your program focus only on same gender parent/child) ; absolutely terrible and not-inclusive program y’all are running over there.
