Caedmon School Discovery Camp
The Montessori Association of New York
Caedmon Discovery Camp is a New York City day camp for children ages 2.8–12, run by The Caedmon School on East 80th Street. Campers are grouped by age and spend Monday through Thursday on age-appropriate field trips across the city — the top of the Empire State Building, the Coney Island aquarium, the Bronx Zoo, the New York Hall of Science — with Fridays given to an all-camp on-site specials event. Swimming is included for ages 4 and up and trips for ages 6 and up. The full-day schedule runs 8:30 AM–4:00 PM Monday to Thursday and 8:30 AM–12:00 PM on Friday, with a half-day 8:30–11:30 AM option for the youngest group; the six-week program runs from late June to early August and rates include a daily snack.

Powered by GoogleMy son, 11 years old, had a fantastic time at Caedmon's Discovery Camp this summer. It was a perfect summer experience of fun and games across the city with his friends from Caedmon. He went bowling, to an amusement park, Medieval Times, boat ride, baseball game, and a trampoline park to name a few things! Highly recommend!
We sent both of our kids (ages 2.5 and 3.5) to the Caedmon Discovery Camp this summer (2022) and have nothing but positive things to say about the whole experience! My daughter (5-year old) has a difficult time with transitions and has food allergies, and it was going to be my son's first time at a drop off program since he has been home since the start of the pandemic. The directors Adam and Slawek were so responsive through the whole application and camp process. They made sure to answer all of our questions and helped to ensure a smooth transition for both kids. Some of the camp counselors are Caedmon teachers and we had a particularly great experience with the toddler group teacher Ms. Rama and her support staff. The camp was well-run, organized, provided an appropriate amount of structured/semi-structured and free-play opportunities for each age group, and most of all, the kids LOVED it so much. There was water play for the younger kids, swimming for the older kids, and special events for all age groups. My daughter also loved going on their weekly trip to different places around the city. I heard such wonderful things about the Caedmon school itself and was so glad to see it in action through their summer program. We really felt like we were a part of the Caedmon "family" and hope to return next year!
My daughter had a wonderful experience at Caedmon Discovery Camp. On the weekends she would ask me to take her to camp, that''s how much she loved it! The counselors truly care about the kids and their well-being and safety. The camp keeps parents informed and well connected throughout the week on activities. I could tell also that the people that work for Caedmon Discovery were having a blast and enjoying the experience as well! This past summer was her second year and my daughter is already talking about next summer!
Julia LOVED Caedmon Discovery Camp! This was her second year. She says that her favorite memories are carnival and the Craft Studio. She also talks endlessly about science with Mr. D. One of the special things about this camp is that several Caedmon teachers work there and there is some continuity between the academic year and summer. The kids get all of the activities that other camps provide - swimming, field trips, sports, carnivals, water play, etc. - but they also have high-quality instruction in science, art, cooking, etc. We're very happy with it and plan to send Julia again next year.
My son had a wonderful experience at Caedmon Discovery Camp! The counselors and directors are truly exceptional and have done a great job in creating a fun, warm and engaging environment. My son was part of the 4yr Beavers group. The camp was his first experience at Caedmon (so it was an unfamiliar environment) but I was beyond impressed with how quickly Jackie and the other counselors made him feel at home and adjust to the new routine. They engaged in a wide variety of activities including things that he had never done before such as swimming. Looking forward to bringing him back next summer!
