Blizzard Ski & Snowboard School teaches skiing, snowboarding and racing to kids in kindergarten through 12th grade, with lessons on Saturdays or Sundays for beginners through experts. The youngest skiers and snowboarders stay all day with a small group and the same instructors, while older students choose color level lessons, a race team or an apprentice instructor program. Based in Minneapolis, the school runs buses from stops around the Twin Cities to Midwest ski areas such as Afton Alps, Welch Village and Wild Mountain. Teaching since 1958, Blizzard also helps families who could not otherwise afford to ski or snowboard through its Family Assistance Fund.
