The Austin Central branch of Big Blue Swim School, a national swim-lesson chain, located at 6406 N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd in The Linc shopping center and opened in November 2024 under local owners. It teaches weekly, year-round 30- to 45-minute lessons to children from three months to 12 years across four progressive levels, and offers adaptive swim lessons. There are no contracts or registration fees, and scheduling is handled through the school's online portal. It is a lesson program rather than a summer camp.

The staff at Big Blue Swim School are wonderful, nurturing and so supportive. They want to make sure you and your family have a great experience. Our four year old was very resistant to getting in the water and trying to find her comfort level. The team checked in and made adjustments to make sure we made progress. Ms. Abbey has been wonderful in gaining her trust and being patient with her. She is so sweet and always trying to make sure the kids feel seen and heard. We are very appreciative of the team at BB!

The water is HEATED! As a mom, putting my baby in swim lessons at just 5 months felt a little nerve-wracking but Big Blue Swim School has been such an amazing experience for us. My son is now 9 months old and he literally gets excited when we get in the water. He’s so HAPPY! We’ve worked with a few instructors, but our absolute favorite is Elise. She is incredible with our baby so gentle, attentive, and encouraging. You can tell she truly cares, and it makes such a difference in how comfortable and happy he is during lessons w. Her. She LOVES babies and it shows in her work ethic. The facility is always clean and welcoming, and the whole process feels very organized. We prefer smaller classes that aren’t so full so that baby isn’t too overwhelmed or overstimulated. Week day classes have been less busy we found. If I had one small wish, it would be for a swimsuit water extractor machine because it would make sense and make getting water out of swim wear easier. If you’re a parent thinking about swim lessons, I highly recommend Big Blue Swim School. It’s been 100% worth it for us. Also, if you’re new, mention my name when you sign up and you’ll get $50 off your first enrollment! My swimmer is Myles Hernandez.

These guys at the Linc are awesome. Very well run, and the app is updated in real time, so it’s very convenient to schedule and reschedule. They have a great skill assessment system that allows the kids to move up frequently enough to maintain excitement and interest. More importantly, the instructors are very skilled! I was a competitive swimmer and I know the technique they’re teaching is on point. My daughter loves it.

We enrolled our daughter at Big Blue when she was 9 months old and she has a blast at her weekly lessons. We like that the facility is always clean, the instructors remember our daughter and track her progress, they’ve been open to feedback, and they’re flexible when we need to reschedule or miss a class. Not only are they teaching our toddler about water safety, but we as parents have learned valuable lessons as well. Aside from the skills that they are helping her develop, the classes are also fun and engaging for infants and babies. If you have a high energy child, this is a great activity for them.

We had the best experience at Big Blue Swim! They truly make every detail convenient and family-friendly. The pool and room are always warm, which makes it comfortable for both kids and parents. Showers, baby changing tables, and plenty of changing rooms are available, so you never feel rushed. They even provide plastic bags for wet clothes and towels, which is a small touch that makes a big difference. The instructors are patient and make learning to swim fun and safe for our little one. Highly recommend Big Blue Swim for any family looking for a positive, stress-free swim school experience!
