The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge runs Artsplosion! summer camps for children in grades K–5 at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center. Campers explore the creative process through classes in movement, music, drama, literacy, and visual art, all led by professional artists, at a fee of $200; camps and classes are offered throughout the year.

From beautiful displays in rooms with glass walls to utilizing the stairwells, the building is full of gorgeous art. I've been to several events at the Arts Council building and I've never been disappointed! If you get a chance to go to the rooftop terrace, you should take it!

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the pole firefighters would slide down (if it existed at the time this place was operational). Perhaps it was removed to keep people like me from hurting themselves. The art gallery on the second floor changes artists frequently so catch as many shows as you can. The museum downstairs offers information about equipment used by firefighters from long ago.
