The facilities here are top-tier, but the pricing model is incredibly frustrating. My family membership climbed to $133/month, yet almost nothing is included. For example, my 2-year-old’s swim lessons were an additional $50, and half of the sessions were canceled. Furthermore, because this location is next to a college, the gym is often crowded with students using nationwide plans from outside the area. It’s hard to justify paying a local premium when you're constantly waiting for equipment. My biggest issue, however, is the "brick wall" of management. The front desk staff is very kind, but they aren't empowered to help with membership issues, and there is no "human communication" from the administration. If you're looking for value and transparency, you’re better off at Choice or another local gym.

Yesterday I went to the open swim at the YMCA. It was my first time visiting this facility. I had just bought a swimsuit from Dick’s Sporting Goods specifically so I would be properly dressed for the pool. About 20 minutes into what had been a peaceful swim, a young woman, who I assume was a manager, approached me and immediately told me my outfit was “inappropriate.” The way she spoke to me felt very condescending. I was honestly shocked, because every other woman in the pool was wearing essentially the same type of swimsuit, if not tighter. The only difference I can think of is that I have more curves, which is something I cannot control and should not be shamed for. There was no visible cleavage or anything objectively inappropriate about what I was wearing. She even suggested that I wear shorts in the pool, which felt unreasonable given that I was already wearing a standard swimsuit. I left me feeling singled out and discriminated against. In this day and age, it’s disappointing to see someone shame a woman for being “inappropriate” simply because her body is curvier. I came to the YMCA to swim and enjoy the facilities like everyone else. I hope the staff reflects on how situations like this are handled, because no one should be made to feel uncomfortable or judged for their body while following the same dress standards as everyone else.

I use the senior center which offers various classes such as strength, balance, cardio, and chair yoga. Very professional and welcoming teachers. All equipment is provided. Good place for social interaction for seniors. Great experience!

I love going to this YMCA! It is a gorgeous new facility with a wide variety of equipment and an inclusive atmosphere. There is no pressure to be a bodybuilder, and no shame if you're not in shape - the focus is entirely on health and feeling comfortable there. They really make it a place for everyone, from athletes to families with children to retirees. The pool is kept in excellent shape (very clean), and there's almost always a bike or treadmill available. I have found the staff to be professional and friendly. The Good Day Café has been a great addition in the past year. This YMCA seems to have a close connection to the community, and they are always running events to support local organizations and provide chances for social interaction. Overall, I am satisfied and plan to keep my membership!

To what once was a beautiful facility needs a facelift and daily cleaning. Machines are operable and not old but would it kill to clean them. Let alone the floor, don’t get me started. The child drop off care has space but minimum entertainment for the kids. It’s a beautiful facility on the outside but for the price I’d consider going to the Lawrence location.
