Summer dance camps at American Youth Dance Theater, a children's dance school with studios on the Upper East Side and in Washington Heights. Dance Camp for ages 3.5-6 runs Monday-Thursday, 9am-3pm with full- and half-day options, blending ballet, hip hop, tap, play acting, storytelling, arts and crafts and free play around a weekly theme; Broadway Camp for ages 7-11 runs the same schedule with dancing, singing and Broadway skits and a Thursday performance for families. Older dancers ages 11-18 can attend a two-week pre-professional intensive, Monday-Friday 9am-4:15pm, which requires ballet proficiency and a video audition for students from outside the school. An Art in Motion option pairs mornings of art with afternoon Broadway Camp.
