Basketball day camp at 407Basketball, a year-round academy in Ocoee with a 71,000-square-foot facility, two hardwood courts, strength and conditioning space and recovery areas. Summer camp runs Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with drop-off from 7:45, in weekly sessions from early June through mid-July, capped at 40 athletes per week; families book by the week ($225) or by the day ($60). It is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 17, from beginners to serious players, and the academy also runs skills training, youth leagues and travel teams.

We understand that playing time isn't guaranteed, but if families are committing to a long-term contract, players should at least receive meaningful coaching and development opportunities. To make matters worse, we were still required to pay for three months of a six-month contract despite this experience. Unless your child is already one of the top players, don't expect much opportunity to play. Save your money and look elsewhere.
