Overnight Camps

An overnight camp is one where your child stays on site for the whole session, sleeping in a cabin or a dorm with staff who live there too. Most collect phones at the start, and for many children it is the longest stretch they have spent away from home.

Sessions are shorter than people expect. Nationally, most start in June or July, five nights is typical, and about one in seven runs two nights or fewer, which is the usual way to test whether a child is ready. Prices are a total for the session rather than a weekly rate, so the figure on a listing is the whole stay. Around 900 overnight camps on the site are ACA accredited and roughly 170 list financial aid. If a week away feels like a lot this year, day camps are the gentler version.
