Youth & Family Services (YFS) is a nonprofit serving children and families across 24 western South Dakota counties, best known for its Rapid City Head Start—a free early-childhood education program for low-income children ages birth to 5. YFS runs eight comprehensive programs plus summer meals for community children, rather than a general kids' summer camp.

★★★Elizabeth InghamFun activities for the kids on a weekly basis, but some of their home visitors are over zealous with their mandatory reporting. My child had a bruise, probably from playing or a tantrum (he thrashes), that was smaller than a quarter on his hip. Even CPS agrees that it was B.S., but due to regulations for emergency calls like the one that was made, they will still be following up in a week or 2. If they're going to call for every little bump and scrape a child has, they're pretty well useless. If you're a single parent like me, don't bother.
