Powered by GoogleI see upgrades being done as of recently but I can't see what the benefits are because the women's locker room looks the same except a new lock on the door. The place is to small for the influx of people it sometimes has. The lower gym was upgraded but the basketball courts have exercise classes on them half the time. Plus yall stopped partnering with certain jobs/insurance companies that allow more people to receive discounts on membership. The only good thing about the membership is that it's a 1 stop place for me and my child.
Joining the Sumter YMCA was the best decision I made. They have a wide variety of classes for every fitness level and I particularly enjoyed the boxing with Brandon.Edit to add: Erika‘s cardio sculpt class is the best all over workout that I have ever done.
I have been enjoying my experience at the Y. I come in with my very shy teenage daughter. However, she has been comfortable and feels free to workout as she likes. And I love every bit of it!! My youngest daughter also enjoys kidscape. There is one lady in there in particular that is very very sweet and remembers my baby. We love it!!
The silver sneakers class is outstanding. The instructors are fun, friendly, and they really help me with my muscle tone, weight loss, stretching, and fall prevention.
I've had a membership at the sumter ymca since 1995. I've lived in this community for decades, and of course, there are stories of any place that has been in business for this many years. I don't engage in the drama or the stories. I enjoy working out here. They have tons of classes for women, men, coeds, and kids. For the most part, they keep their gym equipment well maintained. And if it's not maintained, they'll put it out of service order on it. Until it does get fixed. I don't see any signs of Gymtimidation going on here, and they do have strict policy on dress codes where no belly skin or armpit skin can show. We have multiple other spots in town that are popular for different clientele. I've been happy here all these years. It serves all my needs. They have a women's and a mens private gym, as well as a pool activities for the kids and adults, daycare, after school programs and more programs that I can name here.
