Camp Summers & Manget is a Christian camp and retreat property set in a pecan grove near Cameron, run by the Eastern Conference of the Southern Methodist Church on 75 acres donated in 1944. The church runs its own overnight youth camps here for about a month each summer: campers arrive Monday morning and depart Friday morning, staying in cabins and taking part in swimming, paddle boats, fishing, arts and crafts, a game room, skits, praise songs, and Bible study. Campers bring their own bedding, cell phones and electronics are not permitted, and a modest-dress code is enforced. Eleven buildings house up to 120 people and the grounds include a pond with a dual waterslide; outside the church's camp season the facility is rented to other Christian groups for retreats.
