Summer Y Camp in Tacoma is run by the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties, which operates day camp at its branches and at partner schools across Pierce and Kitsap counties; the association's Tacoma sites are the Pearl Street Family YMCA on South Pearl Street and Sherman Elementary in Tacoma School District. Campers spend the week in a small group led by a counselor and teen Counselors-in-Training, with small- and large-group games, campfires, singing, swimming and crafts, plus specialty camps for all-week campers ages 7-12. A two-level Counselor-in-Training program is open to teens, and the association also runs break-week camps and outdoor day camp at YMCA Camp Lake Helena with a Tacoma pickup at Hunt Middle School.
