Powered by GoogleFrom the front desk to the trainers who work with my husbands Pedaling For Parkinson’s class, the concern for their clients and patrons is exemplary! I recommend the YMCA to anyone seeking a welcoming, positive environment for their physical wellbeing !
I love swimming and enjoy the pool itself, but the overall conditions could be much better. The pool is also frequently closed for different reasons — sometimes there are multiple closure notices in one day. It really disrupts plans. I’ve even started calling before leaving home because more than once I arrived with my swim bag only to find the pool closed. Since the renovation, the locker room has had extremely high humidity. It’s very uncomfortable to simply stay there, the mirrors are constantly fogged up!! Some staff members are kind, especially in the gym area. However, the front desk is often unfriendly and at times openly rude. On many occasions, an employee seemed annoyed that she had to do her job, which felt very disrespectful. I also wish there was a sauna like in other YMCA locations. On Sundays, most lanes are taken by school classes, leaving very limited space for public lap swimming. I hope these issues can be improved.
This YMCA is by far the oldest, dirtiest, and least functional y I’ve ever been in. The showers don’t get hot, the pool gets shut down nearly every week for a variety of issues, and when you swim you can see all the scuzz on the pool bottom, the day care room is dark and dirty. It’s also extremely expensive. No feel like either the prices they charge and their reluctance to offer discounts to low income users, they should at least find a way to heat the water and clean the place….
I've been to 6 different YMCAs and this one has by far the worst management in my experjence. For a company that prides itself on listening to members i was very disappointed. When I was "hired" here, I completed the paperwork I had been given and after numerous phone calls and in-person visits they never got back to me. And as a member, the last thing they'd want is feedback. They did not validate or even consider some of my concerns and for that reason I won't be coming here anymore and I ecnoruage everyone not to come here for the same reason.
I’ve been really happy with my experience at the Barnstable YMCA! I have been going on a daily/weekly basis for the past year. The child watch service is fantastic — my kid loves it, and I can enjoy my workout or school work worry-free. It’s so COST EFFICIENT because the child watch is already built into my membership!!! The 2 staff members will watch my child for up to an hour and a half everyday. The gym equipment is top-notch, and the spacious atmosphere makes it a pleasure to train without feeling cramped. I notice all of the staff is quite friendly and easy to talk to, Chris; at the front desk is always a kind, bright smiling face. I also appreciate how judgment-free the environment is, making it a welcoming place for everyone. A special shoutout to Joshua, the trainer, who is incredibly knowledgeable and always offers helpful advice and exercises to improve my workouts. Overall, a great experience at the YMCA, and I highly recommend it! This is especially helpful for younger families who want exceptional care for their little ones in addition to having time for self- care as a parent or caregiver.
