Powered by Googlei came here for a fifth grade field trip a few years ago for two nights, and i loved this place. the activities were really fun too, with things like canoeing, swimming, archery, etcetera. i was placed in huckleberry cabin with six bunk beds and one bathroom to share with all twelve people. there was also a separate room and bathroom for our chaperone. i recall waking up around 7-8am. at night, we did some skits, roasted marshmallows around the fire, and went on a hike and had some glow in the dark mints. the cabins were placed in a way that it felt like a community. even though this was my first trip alone away from home, it was one of the most unforgettable and fun trips i have ever had. thank you, camp seymour, for radiating welcoming and homely vibes to me and everyone else i came here with.
The amusements provided were, indeed, diverting, yet of a most regrettably short duration. The camp itself was of a peculiarly sing-song character, for the youth were compelled to join in both song and dance to melodies of a most childish nature; and should any refuse compliance, they were met with harsh reprimand from the overseers. Each morning all were summoned at an early hour, that they might gather within the wood and raise their voices together. Even those of fourteen years were constrained to sing the selfsame infantile airs. The conveniences for bodily relief were in much disorder, and arranged in a most unorthodox fashion. It is my conviction that the exercises would be vastly improved were they extended in length.
The Women’s Wellness weekend was beyond imagination from Snappy and all the camp counselors to the food to the fully equipped cabins to the general friendship of the other ladies. I spent the time with on this weekend with both cabin mates and during activities and meal times it was an amazing experience that I will do again I believe this camp is offered in April and November for women 19years and up. After having Weight loss Surgury and losing 167 pounds this was the best weekend and adventure ever!
My 9 year old attended Camp Seymour for the first time this year and and he absolutely loved it. We’ve done a lot of summer camps (but never an overnight) and I was blown away by how organized, clean and well run this was. Everything had attention and detail. We will be back!
My son had an incredible time on his first camping trip with his school class. The experience was nothing short of wonderful! They enjoyed a variety of activities, including hikes, zipline, archery, and more. Although it can be difficult to be away from home for the first time, my son made many new memories with his classmates that were well worth the experience. The trip also required participants to unplug, with no cell phones allowed, but disposable cameras are recommended for taking pictures. The trip took place after winter break, during cold and wet weather. Fortunately, the camp provided a list of items to bring beforehand, and my son was well-prepared for the trip. Overall, if the opportunity arises to camp out again with the YMCA, we will definitely take it!
