YMCA Before & After School Enrichment
Private
YMCA Before & After School Enrichment (YBASE) is the YMCA of Coastal Georgia's Chatham County program held at children's own schools, running from 6:30 a.m. until school starts and from dismissal until 6:00 p.m. It provides homework time plus artistic and educational activities, with reduced or free tuition tied to the school lunch application. This is a school-year before/after-care program, not a summer camp.
The practical details
We list only what the camp itself publishes, and programs change — dates, prices, ages and availability can all move after we check. Confirm the details on the camp’s own website and contact YMCA Before & After School Enrichment directly before you register or pay. Last checked August 2026.

Powered by GoogleI brought my child there today for Day Camp. It seemed fine at drop off but pickup was a whole new story. I will NEVER use this camp again and I feel sorry for all the kids in the camp program! My child cried as soon as she was away from the door. She cried 2 times while there and I only had her there until noon! I showed up early and the kids were sitting around a table looking so sad. No toys, NO games. Not allowed to talk. They all looked like they'd been getting yelled at and just sad and defeated. I saw with my own eyes a little boy getting scolded and made to sit and he was being quiet. I asked my child how long they were sitting like that and she said for a long time. She said all they got was yelled at and forced to sit in timeouts. There was no playing it was so sad. I felt so bad walking out and leaving all those kids there. My heart broke. We will never go back there. How many of them go home and rave about what a great day they had? After getting home and looking online I see all the 1 star reviews, so shame on me. That was heartbreaking. I will be cancelling my YMCA membership
These people do not care about you, your kids, your job, or your money. I have an extensive paper trail of the unfollowed guidelines by the staff, The errors of the staff costing me hundreds of dollars and almost my job, and the numerous incorrect charges to my account. My account which they are still trying to run my card and get money out of 9 months later. Whoever is in charge of running the business side of things clearly has no idea what they are doing and none of these programs talk to each other and no one seems to know who's in charge or who their boss is or who they would call if they had a problem. They seem to not even know who really does the accounting work. That's still shouldn't have prevented me from reaching some sort of conclusion in my problems though because I was promised the bco would call me back over the summer. But he never did so I could never enroll my children in the summer camp at the two spots that were left open so I couldn't take the job. Waited all summer so I could work when the kids went back to school and now they were unregistered from there after school program without even a phone call to me and no one knows until my kids are sitting there at the first day of school -being told that they can't go into the classroom because their names are not on the list but they don't know who to talk to about it? Do you not train your people who their managers are? And is it really company policy to allow a kindergartener in a first grader to be left with no one to pick them up or be there for them after their first day of school? Because that's what y'all did by canceling their after school registration without contacting their parents or alerting the school. I'm just posting this and hoping someone who is like me will read it and know to look elsewhere because man oh man I wish someone could have warned me never to get my kids involved in anything with the YMCA beside Sports
Firstly, it was nearly impossible to cancel. I emailed several time, you can’t do anything from the website yourself (even though you can sign up for all session yourself?), and while you wait for someone to respond to emails, you’re charged for weeks you aren’t using and have been trying to cancel. As a single mom, money disappearing and going towards nothing is harmful to my budget, especially in this economy. Secondly, we were really unhappy with how this is organized. There’s very little for younger kids to do besides wait around doing nothing. I tried sending my child with a small coloring book and crayons to entertain herself while older kids had reading/homework time. They told her she couldn’t use them. She’s 5. She isn’t reading yet and doesn’t have homework. It is apparently VERY loud, as all the grades are in one room. So if you have kids with any kind of sensory processing issues, or sound sensitivity, avoid this program. I will say the woman I spoke to to cancel the program session was very nice and helpful. I’m still not sure why I couldn’t cancel it from the program, and why other Y workers I spoke with could see all the programs but also couldn’t cancel.
We've used this program for 3 years now and every year has been filled with miscommunication or lack of communication, unprofessional staff who lack zero compassion or understanding. We've had our cards incorrectly charged, paperwork lost every single year, even when it was turned in to the main office. I guess they think since there is no other options available to working families they can act however they'd like.
These last two years of service with pryme tyme have been full of miscommunication, system errors, over charging, accidental charges, wrong registrations, my child being pushed and having a tooth knocked out and yet I still gave this program a chance! Now I've registered over the summer, and am currently being charged yet my child is being told she's not on the roster at her school! Additionally I'm able to pick up my child with no one to making sure I'm actually the adult who should be doing so! Such a lack of safety for children!
