The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. My granddaughter and I did a kettle ball class for the first time led by the instructor, Brandy. Brandy explained every exercise and gave us a great workout. My granddaughter even enjoyed it. The gym was clean and well kept. I will definitely be going back to the Effingham YMCA.

This YMCA doesn't allow dependents to have access to the location without a ID regardless of having a membership. I have the adult with dependents membership, My daughter tried using the family membership to play volley ball and was denied because she didn't have an ID to show the clerk. Never had an issue at any of the 50 other locations that we've been to. Asked to speak to supervisor regarding the issue and the woman told me the supervisor was unavailable. I find it rather ridiculous that she was denied over something so petty . A one time exception would have sufficed. After all, it's better to have these 15 year olds out being active than partying & having sex. Highly disappointed In the YMCA for this! Been a very loyal customer for a long while!

Excellent place to work out and I enjoy the sauna as well. The pool is great and the egym circuit is fast and easy to use. They have fitness classes and lots of up to date equipment and 2 large gyms.

I remember when this particular Y treated their members kindly, and went out of their way to be helpful. I don't know what happened, but that's NOT the case now. It seems to have slipped, both in customer service and planning activities. There used to sandwiches, fruit, veggie trays, and drinks (nit all at once) for those members who attened bingo, or Lunch & Learn extracurricular activities. Now you get Little Caesars pizza & NO drinks. Maybe instead of paying thousands of dollars for circuit training machines, they should've held back some so members could enjoy those old-fashioned perks. Just saying. Where's all the money going?

If I could for zero stars I would. One of their workers shamed me for not having my child at an after school care program for special needs children right before they expelled my son. If your children have disabilities please don’t bring them here!!! These people don’t have a lot of training with children. Also do the record there aren’t any programs in this area at all for after school care for children with disabilities!
