Yakima Parks and Recreation, the city's municipal parks department, runs a Summer Sports Day Camp for youth ages 6-11 at MLK Jr. Park and Aquatic Center. The camp meets Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with swimming, soccer, basketball, volleyball, pickleball and group recreation games at a low fee. The department also publishes an annual summer program guide of other youth activities.

★Peanutbutter jellyfish (nofrownonme)Keeping the bathrooms locked is such a uniquely Yakima idea. They tell me it’s because of irrigation. Only bathrooms use city water. You hate homeless so much, you make the rest suffer? So kids who need to use the bathroom, have to leave. You want to see how a town shouldn’t function? Take notes from the city of Yakima. Waste taxpayer money. Take away every service. Run the town into the ground.
★lorraine wThings have changed so much with the way things are at the softball fields in the past years. They have gotten rid of the affordable concessions and moved in two trailers that think people can afford gourmet hotdogs. They are so expensive people can’t afford to pay entrance fees for their family to be able to enjoy a sport together and then pay $10 for a hotdog. The rules set for one organization renting the fields seem to be different for others renting the fields. The head guy needs to come out from behind his phone and see what actually goes on instead of listening to his worker that takes care of the fields. Will be nice when and if Sozo puts in fields.
★★★Julie SpeerTHIS HAS BEEN RESOLVED AFTER TALKING WITH JASON ( THE BOSS ) THE FOLLOWING DAY I GOT THE REDUCED RATES. I am a disabled 48 year old woman with a Medicare card, a handicapped placard, and I am on social security. On their website it clearly states you can get in at reduced fares ( honor citizen rates ) if you are disabled or on SSI or have a handicapped placard for your car you are entitled to the honor citizen fares, apparently that does not apply to Lions Pool. I went there today and to refused to give me the honor citizen rates and made me pay full price. I have never had this issue with Franklin Pool or Lions Pool that is until today. So if you are disabled be prepared they will not give you the reduced rates. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT
★★★★★Rebecca ZuhlkeSurprisingly affordable swim and soccer classes for my preschooler. So far the instructors have all been enthusiastic and seem to genuinely love teaching kids. Definitely recommend especially if your priority is a positive, fun, and low pressure environment for your child.
★H DI needed help with signing my daughter up for swim lessons called lions pool the guy was great but his computer crashed. Told me to call the parks and rec people and they would continue to help me. Called them and the lady was short and snappy. Said I needed to do it all online and when we were done just said bye and hung up. Just thing to sign my daughter up and PAY. Idk I guess I just expect better customer services.
