Well done Windwood team to have improved on counselors experience!! 2024: Interesting to see reviews that are five stars and reviews that are 1 star. We sent our son for three weeks in 2023 summer and overall I feel this is a three stars. 1) place is nice, kind of little forest, for sure this is a 5 stars. 2) counselors are kind of inexperienced. Our son lost at least 10 items (three new water bottles, some clothes, etc) and obviously it is his 6-year old fault. No doubts. But it took three weeks for someone to tell me, after speaking with several counselors every single day, walking inside the camp, that lost and founds are in two places (at the pool and at the lunch area in a black garbage bin). Better organization would be super simple and twice per week and email to all attendees with some photos of the lost and found on a table would be an easier improvement. To me this is three stars. 3) how you son will spend the day? First day my son ask me to don’t pick up him at 4 but later.. this genuinely surprise me. Spending some time visiting the place and ask approval for me to be inside, I found out that there is a big tv that kids can watch tv before activities start at 9 am and activities stops at 4 pm. Needless to say that watching tv at 8 am is the worst thing a camp could do. I don’t mind in the afternoon but please, shut this TV in the mornings!!!! I inspected with my eyes about 10 kids watching tv at 8:30 am. ONE star for this director, please make smarter choices for morning 7- 9 am activities. Young kids cannot be left to choose if they wanna watch tv or play in the play area. 4) swimming pool is cold but for me is part of the adventure. This is again a 5 stars. 5) counselors surveillance and skills (let’s don’t push to safety.. I do believe safety is well assured based on my inspections). They are inexperienced and lacks of a senior counselor, a manager that can set the right tone and train them. Kids may be bullied or bulling the other. In my case I found out that my son was not behaving well with one of his friends thanks to the parent reaching out to me (families knew each other prior it) so I did realize that counselors are not very effective. Three stars because safety is assured but education and set behavioral samples is absent IMHO. 6) fun and happiness.. well this is a 5 stars, kids really enjoy outdoor life.. maybe a 4 when it rains but luckily during summer not too much risk. In three weeks there was only one rainy day! Cost is $250 per week if bought in bulk and with early booking, then there are some offers prior June for $280-310 and during the season extending will cost $350. I do plan to sent our son back next year, 2024, as 7y old but only with a $250 per week. This camp does not worth anything above this fee in my opinion until TV is removed, a senior manager counselor is 7am-6pm on site and kids are supported more. Still sending him there because is wild and it is very true, kids have a blast, they are back super dirty and super happy. So .. not 1 star, no 5 stars but a reasonable 3 stars. So easy for the management to make this place a 5 stars? They need only one manager to set the right tone and policies and this would be the best place in Pennsylvania IMHO

Where to begin. Total and complete incompetence from the owners to the “management”. The place is a debacle. Staff yelling at each other in front of children, 20-25 children per camp counselor, counselors being hired that are seniors in high school or just graduated. Children with significant behavioral and mental health problems not provided with the appropriate levels of support/supervision. Children getting injured daily. There are several home style cabins on the property that they rent out to anyone. Counselors need background checks… but anyone can rent a home cabin and live on the property not more than 100 yards or less from the children?! The place is not safe by any stretch of the imagination.

I went here as a kid and loved it. There are so many playgrounds and free time was so fun. Counselors were always really nice and there's lots of activities.

HORRIBLE first time experience. BUYER BEWARE I should have trusted my gut before I purchased two weeks for my step daughter. They don’t answer their phone, the facility is not put together, bullying, and unprofessional. 1.) This camp is almost impossible to get a hold of. Either via phone or email. I called (left multiple messages) and no one answered or called back when I was trying to gather information on this camp. 2.) During the open house the tour was very uninformative and underwhelming.The counselor giving the tour could not answer very basic questions about safety measures. The camp was not set to go. Pool furniture was everywhere the basketball court was getting worked on. Quite honestly it look wild and out of order. Not the way you expect to see a camp during their open house that your sending your step daughter to for the first time. 3.) BULLYING. My step daughter was using the portajohn (that did not lock) and three or four boys were kicking and banging on the door and trying to open it while she was in there. She alerted us and we called to talk to staff. Was told it would be taken care off. The next day when I dropped her off I again talk to staff was told it would be handled and someone would be stationed at the bathroom. To my dismay when my step daughter came home that day she told me she hadn’t gone to the bathroom all day because she was scared and traumatized from the day before. I asked if anything was done to prevent what happened the day before she said no. No one was watching the bathroom. Unacceptable. No 7yr old little girl should be scared to use the bathroom at a camp. 4.) After all this, I reached out to the director of the camp to talk about refunding us for our second week that we purchased. After the disaster of the first week, we weren’t sending her for a second week. Emails were exchanged over the course of a week, which is truly unacceptable in this day in age. It takes minutes to write an email I shouldn’t be waiting DAYS for correspondence. This camp is a joke for the price. I went to camp growing up and it was nothing like this. I should have trusted my gut. BUYER BEWARE. Will definitely be contacting the BBB

This place is horrible, the camp is being cheap yet they make you pay $230 per week. They have 7 employees but pay them all minimum wage. All of the kids are not under control. If you want to send your kid here, make sure that they are going with a friend. The only thing saving this camp are the counselors. Overall, you should just go to wexford kindercare.
