★★★★Laura WWe went for a special animal exhibit and enjoyed it very much. We also watched and played around with some of the science items. Whitaker's Science Center is very much for kids and some of the hands on exhibits show it. They are very worn. They are still interesting and the kids seemed to be enjoying them but they are very used. Whitaker also has a performance center and IMAX movie theater. For the price it's worth taking the kids to the Science Center. The IMAX movies can be cool, too. The staff there are exceptionally nice.
★★★Funky Peacock StudioWe brought our 7 yr old Grandson, first visit for all of us. Saw the T-Rex movie first, then went down to the permanent section where, sadly, over half the hands-on activity stations were not in working order! Grandson quickly grew frustrated and kept going back to the rock climbing wall. We went to the lowest level for the new temporary exhibit, Winter Glow. It was fine but looked to be mostly DIY-level using loads of fluorescent tape and paint. Nothing visible we could find the explain the science of “glow in the dark” or different light spectrums. Because of the ages in our threesome we spent $69 for admission to the center and 3D movie, which felt ridiculous for what was on offer and in good repair. And be aware that the parking garage with direct access to the bldg cost us $19 for our 2 hour visit.
