The Visual Arts Center of Richmond is a nonprofit community art school whose ArtVenture summer camp runs weekly sessions for ages 5-14, plus separate camps for teens 15-18. Campers work in professional studios with teaching artists, choosing from offerings like wheel throwing, darkroom photography, stop-motion animation and mural painting rather than a single fixed curriculum. The center also runs year-round youth, after-school and adult classes at its Richmond campus.

BUT, as we get more and more pottery studios in surrounding areas, instead of trying to stay competitive, i think the clay dept is just letting tiself go... clay dust on every surfaces, slow turnaroudn times on getting work back, empty glaze buckets being the norm, broken or missing tools.... its clear they need to hire more staff!!!

All types of painting, ceramics pottery smelting glass art and I'm sure much more I didn't get to see. Highly recommend visiting and taking some classes or joining it. So plan to visit again soon!

We were the only ones here, which gave us the opportunity to peruse at our leisure. The prices they were asking for some of the artwork were outrageous though... something created on craft paper really shouldn’t cost thousands of dollars.
