Vancouver Elite Gymnastics Academy (VEGA) is a gymnastics, dance and preschool center in Camas that runs week-long themed summer camps for ages 3 to 12. Choices include American Ninja Warrior obstacle camps, Tumble Mania tumbling camps, Animal Planet and preschool themed camps, Future Scientists and LEGO Masters camps that mix gym time with STEM projects, Yoga Art, and Virtuosity dance camps that close with a Friday mini-performance. Camps are grouped in narrow age bands (3-5, 6-8, 8-12), cost $230 with snacks and a camp tee included, and are paid as a non-refundable $115 deposit plus balance. Registration for the summer season opens in early February.

Recently my son and his whole Men’s gymnastics team was suddenly cancelled without warning from another local gym. This left a whole team that was practicing 4 hours a day 3 days a week for years together shocked and devastated. Some of the parents reached out to VEGA to see if there was any possibility to have our team included in their Men’s programs. They contacted us quickly and with open arms to allow our boys to continue in the sport they love so much! The coaches are very kind, gentle and patient. They will let you register for make-up classes if your kiddo is sick, you were out of town or even if there they are closed for holidays or weather and don’t throw your money away. We have attended a birthday party here and everyone had a great time, and they also offer summer camps and have a preschool. They have snacks available for purchase, but they don’t have coffee. The office staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I have recommended this place to many family and friends in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

None of our other kiddos had an interest in these skills and sports, until now, with our youngest daughter who is 7. She just loves going and is on her second set of classes at Vega. She feels safe and cared for and hops into the car after, sweaty and excited to tell everything she learned that day. (Which continues on at home to SHOWING her dad and I everything as well! 😄) Fostering that enthusiasm and engaging whole body mechanics is very important to us. Especially coming out of the past year and a half where our children were very limited on athletics here in the Pacific Northwest. We are thankful for the ease of email, the online member portal, and the great communication provided by the staff at Vega. Having instructors that are nurturing and also good at redirecting younger students is a tough task, but they have done it here! It definitely feels welcoming to all people there.
