★SouthsideThis place has gone downhill. It used to be a privilege to belong there as you needed to work at the school , become a student or be alumni. Now anyone with $10 can get in. The courts now are packed. The place smells like weed and you hear cussing and arguing on the courts. I paid $50,000 to go to college there and now they are so money hungry they have to get these extra $10.00 proceeds and they have sacrificed the integrity of this once nice establishment. It is not a good family environment any longer. Please go back to stricter requirements to visiting the rec center and quit being so greedy.

If that means members of the public will not be allowed, I agree with that 100% I give it a 5 stars, but the basketball court really should be limited to individuals or UT team practice and not ad hoc games. That's not the point of the gym nor its original intention I would imagine.
★Tyson RobinsonWhen I first started using the campus rec center, it was a great place to work out, play basketball, and connect with other students. However, recent changes have significantly diminished the experience. The decision to allow anyone to enter for a $10 fee has turned what was once a student-centered facility into an overcrowded and often hostile environment. Now, the courts are filled with individuals who aren’t even affiliated with UT, many of whom are loud, disrespectful, and frequently involved in arguments or altercations over pickup games. The atmosphere has become disruptive and, at times, outright unsafe. It’s frustrating to see the university prioritize additional revenue over the well-being of its students—especially when UT already generates substantial income from tuition and parking fees. Frankly, I didn’t pay nearly $50,000 in tuition to have non-students, some of whom come in smelling like weed, yelling and cursing at me over a basketball game. If this policy remains unchanged, I—and many others—will be rethinking whether the rec center is even worth using. UT needs to reconsider this decision and ensure that the facility remains a safe and enjoyable space for its students. If individuals want access, they should enroll or find another venue. I urge UT to address this issue before it further diminishes the student experience or before someone gets hurt. They also be stealing phones and car keys so hide y’all stuff
