The historic Turnage Theatre (circa 1913) at 150 West Main Street in Washington is home to Arts of the Pamlico, which runs free youth summer arts camps for grades 3 and up. Programming includes a three-week performing-arts camp that stages a full production such as Disney's Newsies Jr., plus a Stage Craft camp in which campers build and paint backdrops, set pieces and props for the show. Camps are tailored by age and are offered at no cost.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I wish I lived closer to be involved in this nostalgic theater. Comfortable seats and spaced for leg room. The acoustics are amazing, not a bad seat in the house, and it was easy to move during the show to access the restrooms or concessions. I can't wait to vist the Washington area again. They are growing in me but we will see if they keep it up! If you're in town on The 2nd Friday of the month, come on down to 2nd verse!

The theater is located in beautiful downtown Washington,NC in the historic area and not difficult at all to find. Although there were many people in the lobby, the line moved quickly and the staff was upbeat and friendly. Once inside, theater is well kept, beautifully decorated and cozy. There was plenty of parking in the rear of the building which is truly a plus. We really enjoyed watching our Grandchildren perform here and cannot wait to visit again.
