New Bern Civic Theatre, a nonprofit multi-venue performing-arts complex in historic downtown New Bern, runs a two-week summer performance camp for ages 8-18 that rehearses and stages High School Musical, Jr., meeting 8:30am to 3pm daily (July 20-31, 2026) and ending in two public performances. A parallel one-week tech camp for ages 12-18 runs July 27-31 and covers lighting, sound, stage management, props and costumes behind the scenes. The theatre also runs a Next Generation Workshop each summer teaching theatre fundamentals and teamwork to children ages 8-15.
