Powered by GoogleWe've been going to Tongwood in Brookline for about nine months and it's become one of our favorite activities for me and my child! The space is bright and welcoming and the team is warm and engaging. They are always creative about what art project to make each week in the Toddler class—so far we have made a polar bear, an owl, a pirate, a caterpillar, an ocean scene, a picnic, and countless other things that we have framed in our house, and our kid always leaves the class feeling very proud! Every class uses mix media, including acrylic paints, cutting and pasting with paper and various craft materials, drawing and coloring with crayons and markers, and often air-dry clay, which is always a big hit. The activities are age-appropriate, some parts can be more, or less challenging based on the age of the kids in the class (and their mood) but they are always having fun, while also learning about color theory, composition, planning, and improving their fine motor skills. The teachers are attentive to each child and work with them where they are at, e.g. Miss Flora quickly realized that my kid would only mix paint colors on the palate but then not transfer the colors on paper, so now we don't use a palate and instead mix directly onto the artwork, which is much better! The toddler class is really great and I highly recommend Tongwood all-round.
My daughter has been taking classes here for more than two years, and she absolutely loves it. The teachers are very patient, caring, and supportive. The lessons are engaging, well-structured, and full of interesting content. We've seen great progress in her learning and confidence. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a positive and enriching learning environment!
We have enrolled our daughter in various art classes and studios across greater Boston over the years but Tongwood is the first studio that we felt took artistic development seriously. Todd and his team of teachers are incredibly talented, engaging children in the lesson so that they are enjoying the experience while developing and applying real technique. After each class we continue to be surprised at the quality of work our daughter is able to produce. After just a year of attending Tongwood, she has a portfolio full of impressive charcoals, watercolors, acryllics and more. We will stay with Tongwood for years to come.
Highly recommend this art class! My daughter is having so much fun and learning a lot. The teachers are wonderful. It’s definitely her favorite activity!
