Third Coast Beach Camps in St. Joseph are week-long half-day beach day camps for kids ages 6-12, run by Third Coast Surf Shop with over 20 years of beach programming. Days are filled with surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, skimboarding, bodyboarding, sandcastles and games, led by CPR- and water-safety-trained counselors. Morning sessions run 9am-12pm with afternoon sessions also offered in St. Joseph.

★★★★★Mary ChandlerGreat place to get beginner surf lessons for groups or private. Our instructor, Rob, was very good at explaining proper technique and he was very patient. Wetsuits and surfboards are provided if you don't have them along with gloves, booties and a hood. First you learn how to do proper technique on dry land, then you try it in the water. We had 2-4 foot waves so we weren't able to stand up on the board. Calmer water would be easier as a beginner to avoid frustration. But it was a lot of fun trying! Next time I will get my own wetsuit. The water seeped in the wetsuit, gloves and booties that I was provided and I got wet so I'm glad I wore a bathing suit underneath instead of clothes. The used wetsuits develop a smell from being in the lake all the time according to the lady at the desk in the shop. All in all it was a great experience and I would do it again with a few adjustments as mentioned.

Shop owner was so chill and loved learning about surfing lake Michigan. Definitely will be back. It was below 40 degrees but the gear we rented kept us WARM. Waves were knee-chest high and fun sets all around and boards were nice. Yewwww!!
★★★★★Margaret MatthewsThis is now a Mexican restaurant! The food is really good but a tad pricey for the portion size. Each taco is almost $4. The atmosphere is really relaxing and beachy, and the customer service was great. I'm sure this will be a hopping place this summer since they're very near the beach and has alot of foot traffic on this main road in Saint Joseph. I personally would offer the next size up in a taco, and offer tortilla shells as well as the corn shell, but all in all, a really nice place.
★★★★★Ashley PoirierWOW. This place was great! My fiance has been dying to check this store out and used to surf years ago. They have a wonderful selection of surf boards, skim boards, long boards and skate boards! They also have really cool TCS branded clothing and lots of surf/skate brand name clothing. Adam helped us with a surf board rental (he was very knowledgeable and super helpful) and Lilly assisted us at check-out. Both were awesome! My fiance was able to rent a board and wet suit for 4 hours for about $65 which is not bad at all! He caught some waves which made all of this worth it. You definitely want to check this store out!!
