My friend and I were on vacation in Springfield and saw an ad for the TIP production of The Merry Wives of Windsor. Being Shakespeare aficionados who have never been able to see a production of that play, we decided to go. First off, the space is enviable. None of the companies we work with or see in the Nashville area can compare to their stage! Secondly, they had a teenager singing and playing the guitar for the pre show and she was amazing. She played several wonderful covers, but the one original piece she added at the end showed maturity beyond her years. The production itself was great and I laughed continually throughout it. We were especially blown away by Jane Buckholz’s Mistress Quickly and Andy Vandervoort’s Mr. Ford, who was responsible for many of my belly laughs. The eponymous Merry Wives (Katie Barrett and Rachel Hetrick) were also hilarious. Abigail Buckholz provided music between scenes. She and the director, Carrie McDonald, had developed a set of covers but many of them had been altered to reflect what was going on in the play. These songs made the set changes something to look forward to. All in all a phenomenal production in an excellent space.

It was my first time being at this event, and I will definitely go back next year. Very relaxed atmosphere, musicians just getting together and playing with other musicians in the village was very cool to see and hear. The performances in the theater were a great treat at the end of the night as well.

Great place to attend a summer play, good seating, good sound. They also used one of the mosquito vendors to treat the grounds, so the bugs don't drive you crazy. Went to a couple of plays there this summer that my neice's soon was in.

"1776" was superb. The band, the vocals and the acting- all top notch. Also, "Distant Thunder" was excellent, telling the story, as a musical, about the people of New Salem from a narrators point of view. So well done! The weather was ideal and the theater area had obviously been sprayed for insects as I didn't see or feel a one! Can't wait to see and hear "Spoon River Anthology" at the end of August.
