UPDATE: summer 2026 I still come here regularly, but after this season I will likely be looking for another pool. This is the first pool I’ve used that consistently fails to enforce lap swim rules. While the pool schedule has improved somewhat compared to previous years, enforcement of lap swim policies remains a major issue. One of the biggest selling points of this facility is having a dedicated lap-swim pool. Until the weather warmed up, I had no issues using the lanes for their intended purpose. Recently, however, lifeguards have been allowing groups of teens to sit and float on pool noodles in the middle of the lap lanes (in the lap swimming pool) while socializing. Meanwhile, the pool is extremely busy with people who are there specifically to swim laps and exercise. There is already a separate open-swim pool available for lounging and recreational activities, and there are lifeguards on duty who should be enforcing the posted lap swim rules. Allowing non-swimmers to occupy lap lanes is inconsiderate to patrons who come specifically to work out and use the lanes as intended. I enjoy many aspects of this facility, but if lap swim rules continue to go unenforced, it will be difficult to justify renewing my membership. Original I really want to give 5 stars because I LOVE to lap swim at this pool. I will drive 30 minutes out of my way and pass 4 other YMCA’s with pools to swim here. The water is a nice temperature and is generally clean. The lifeguards are friendly here, especially compared to other locations. There are generally lap lanes open for swimming at all times. My main issue is the pool schedule online is NOT accurate at all. I have shown up twice during times that there are supposed to be 7 lanes open for lap swim and really there are only 2-3. I showed up this week and was moved down from lanes multiple times by the coach, totally fine thankfully I had just got in and wasn’t deep into my swim yet. I understand the kids are there to practice but I would have shown up earlier or later in the day if the schedule was kept accurate. The schedule did not reflect that there would be 4-5 lanes out of use from 11-12:30 or 1 whenever they finish. I love to come here to swim, I really just wish the pool schedule would be kept up to date.

The Pasadena pool is always clean and refreshing and I love that the kids pools are separated from the lap pool. I do have one inquiry about the pool, and that is if they plan on getting more umbrellas. There used to be a handful more that were located near the back end of the lap pool, but now the amount of umbrellas seems scarce and the majority of them are located near the kids section.

I’ve had a YMCA membership before (not at this location), but this was by far my worst experience. I was looking to complete a full body scan and possibly meet with a trainer and found this location online. I called today (3/20/26) at 4:03 PM and spoke with a young lady who confirmed they offer it. I specifically asked if I needed an appointment, and she told me no, I could walk in, and that it would be $35. I live about 20 minutes away and got there around 4:52 PM. When I walked in, there were two people at the front desk, Carly and Jordan (young man with long hair). I said hello, and neither of them acknowledged me. Jordan had headphones in and avoided eye contact, and Carly acted like she was too busy to be bothered. I waited a few seconds (it was not busy at all as I was the only one at the front desk), said hello again, and Jordan finally looked up, took his headphones off, and I asked if he worked there. He nodded yes… and said nothing else. I asked if he could help me or if I was interrupting whatever he was watching, and he still said nothing and put his headphones back in. Carly then reluctantly helped me. I explained that I had called earlier and was told I could walk in for a full body scan. She paged a manager, who then told her that I would actually need to speak with the Fitness Director, AJ Garay, to schedule an appointment with a trainer and that it would be $25. So now I’m confused. I asked why I was given completely different information over the phone. Carly’s response was basically, “it wasn’t me, that person must have left.” No accountability, no clarification. I asked again so is it $25 or $35? She said $25. So I drove 40 minutes round trip for information that could have been clearly given over the phone. What made it worse was the attitude. Not once did anyone acknowledge the inconvenience or even try to be helpful. It was very much an “oh well” response. If this is the standard of customer service here, it speaks volumes. Putting such incompetent people like this in customer-facing roles is a poor reflection of the establishment and the leadership team should be ashamed of themselves. Additionally, rather than responding to this comment (as you’ve responded to similar comments ) with a passive response like “ we shared your experience with the customer service team and blah blah blah”, please just do better. This was my first time here, and it will most certainly be my last. I’ll take my time and money somewhere I’m actually treated with basic respect.

Love the Pasadena YMCA. Still the best place for families. My kids are older now and they mostly go on their own but those early days of going regularly helped create healthy habits and that makes me very happy. Another thing that has been wonderful to see and so much fun is they have consistently upgraded and added to the gym equipment. I was thrilled when they added back the saunas. Because they keep everything so clean, I was surprised to see the brand new saunas looking so dirty the other day. I hope they get that straightened out soon. Also, one of them is already out of order and it’s only been a couple weeks since they were installed. It may be the maintenance contract on them is sub-par. I hope that gets resolved soon. Again, the locker rooms are very clean. I think they must clean them twice a day at least.

It's a very nice facility. They have a ton of equipment, and everything has been kept in very nice condition - even the locker rooms. The pool is great, and they have a bunch of side rooms for other activities (yoga, body pump, etc.). I wouldn't have called the people working the front desk friendly, but they were competent. They also seem to have a pretty decent schedule of member and community events. My only significant complaint was that they made us use a guess pass for a 5-month-old. Come on now... a baby isn't going to be using your equipment. That, and that the Wi-Fi coverage isn't great.
