Bar-T Ranch is a week-long day camp on a 12-acre farm in Laytonsville, part of the family-owned Bar-T organization that has operated in Montgomery County since 1985. Campers ages 5–13 ride a ropes course, play on manicured sports fields, swim in the pool, and do arts and crafts. Extended-hour care is available across the day.

★★★★★Anna AgamirI am rating this a 5 because my daughter loved it, and they had spots when all other camps were booked. The camp has convenient transportation, the kids are well hydrated, sunscreened, everything is well organized. This is high quality childcare for active kids. The administration is very responsive to any concerns, the kids are well attended to. My girl is very sporty and active and this was a great fit. She spent five weeks here this summer. BUT, I do have a few qualms/regrets: this is an outdoor camp - they have no air conditioned spaces - in the heat of 90 degree, humid, rainy summer. My daughter was fine, but personally I wouldn’t be able to handle the humid and hot weather all day. As a result, she was super tired by the end of the day (4pm bus drop-off) and keeping up with other activities (ice skating, piano, summer reading) was a challenge. We dropped her at the bus stop at 8:15 and picked up at 4 or 5 pm ( she did childcare on some days). The program is entertaining, but not very educational. They do art, dance, games, pool, but other than that, there isn’t much mental challenge. I signed her up for soccer camp and creative arts camp for variety. She was bored at both and switched back to her regular group, plus it was WAY too hot for soccer. She was very bored at childcare. This was ok as a break, but if I were to sign her up again, I wouldn’t do so many weeks, I wouldn’t do childcare or transportation, I would skip the hottest weeks (late July/August), and do indoor, more education focused camps in addition to Bar-T.
