Powered by GoogleI am so grateful to have found a child-centered and developmentally appropriate breaking program for my son. He started at the age of 6 and fell in love with Boogie's class! His love for the art form has been nurtured but he has also developed undeniable life skills by working with great mentors like Boogie who exemplify a positive attitude, hard work, and resilience through the learning journey.
We went to a birthday party here for a four -year-old and it was so much fun! Kylie did such a great job of keeping the kids engaged and entertained. She created a Cinderella story and had the kids moving, imagining, and dancing. The kids loved it. They also provided a page with stickers and read a story. Finally, at the end there was cake, singing, and presents. The kids loved running around and at the end there was a dance party, along with musical sound effects throughout. The staff was so kind, friendly, and attentive. This birthday party format is similar to their Story Magic class for the same age which performs at the Capitol Theatre for their performance in May. There were posters for summer camps for kids at about $210/week. Registration fee is $50. The Dance School is located underneath Dan's Mart. Parking is free and either underneath in a parking garage or on the parking lot above.
Our daughters have been taking classes at The School of Dance for many years now and it has always been a warm and welcoming place. The owner, Kylie, is wonderful, and takes the time to get to know each student and makes sure everyone feels at home there. There’s a good variety of types of classes with many times offered. Their end of year performance is also amazing! I love that it’s not a competitive dance studio and just more performative. Would definitely recommend checking out a class here!
My 8 year old daughter has been coming to SOD for almost 2 years, and she loves it. Her confidence and love towards dance has grown so much with Kylie. It's the highlight of her week, she tells me how happy it makes her, she loves the challenge, and it has boosted her confidence so much. She told me if she ever has a bad day on Wednesdays, dance class always cheers her up! She is always commenting on how positive and happy Kylie is. Highly recommend!
When I first enrolled my daughter to the studio it was a dream come true… but that was all a lie. It was great. The teachers were nice, but as years went on, it just got worse specifically with their company. The teachers were extremely underqualified, they would leave my child to look after younger children, even though they were signed up for Dance. Then, when my child got into the higher levels of company, they randomly kicked them off because they “didn’t deserve to be on it.” Not only that, but they were not willing to work with my child with school conflicts and were extremely rude. My child learned no technique and put them behind for the rest of their Dance career. The simple rec classes are fine but if you want your child do you have any sort of real dance experience I recommend looking into a different studio.
