The Loxahatchee River Center in Jupiter, an environmental education center operated by the Loxahatchee River District, runs an Aquatic Adventure summer camp with just 16 campers and four counselors per week. Campers in grades 4-12 explore the Loxahatchee River watershed through kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, and animal encounters, with tiered programs by grade and older students earning community-service hours. The center also features live aquatic tanks and a touch tank.

It took about 45 minutes to explore the building and the butterfly garden area, which was just the right amount of time. We found this hidden gem on Google, and upon arrival, we were greeted by an enthusiastic and welcoming staff. The center features three observatory rooms filled with vibrant exhibits and valuable information about the local ecosystem. Everything was well-maintained and educational. The butterfly garden was a pleasant walk, though we didn’t see any butterflies during our visit—perhaps they’ll be more active in the spring when the garden is in full bloom. Bonus points for the ample parking space, making it a hassle-free stop. Definitely recommend for families, nature enthusiasts, or anyone looking for a quick and informative outing!
