The Redmond Academy of Theatre Arts runs singing, dancing, acting, and technical theatre camps for ages 3-18 at its Redmond studio. Campers work on material from a full-scale production such as Hamilton or Frozen and perform it for friends and family on the final day, with the day broken up by instruction, games, snacks, and a lunch break for full-day campers. Full-day and half-day options plus shorter workshops are offered. The academy describes itself as a nonprofit; students must be independently potty trained and meet the age or incoming-grade requirement before the first day.

Powered by Google::Low quality camp for a high price:: When I read the description of the camp I thought it was going to be fantastic. It turned out to be a low quality camp. The staff couldn't be anymore unenthusiastic and the atmosphere was dull. There are no decorations, no background -- just a tired and dusty scene. The final show was a joke. Some of the children exhibited inappropriate behavior in terms of bad language and suggestive behavior. The instructor had a very mousy presence. I'm writing this review to save parents from wasting money. My suggestion would be to sit in on a play before committing to pay. Unless they say you can't which is a clear indication they do.not stand behind their service.
The Redmond Academy of Theatre Arts is not an ideal place to send little kids for theatre learning. I am a big theatre fan so I enrolled my 5 year old son to one of their mixed-age musical theatre summer camps. My kid is outgoing and likes to enact his imaginary stories with his own antics. But throughout the week long camp at RA I could feel his energy waning. Knowing that he's likely one of the youngest in the camp I just encouraged him to participate and engage. At the end of the week we were invited to a final performance. After sitting through the 10-15 minute show, we realized that our son was only asked to follow along in a regimented choreography. He gingerly made his moves. He did not get a single line of script. What's even worse was that from before to after the show, the teachers completely ignored him, and only gave attention to the older kids who were supposedly 'carrying the show'. If these programs at RA of demand maturity, then please do not sell them to little kids and their families. I've seen other programs where 3-5 olds can really thrive and embrace acting.
The Redmond Academy of Theater Arts is truly a second home for my three children. The caring Founder and Director treats every student like family, and the Academy’s lessons in acting, singing, and dancing have helped my kids grow in confidence and skill. Best of all, students get to perform in multiple shows each year, gaining real stage experience and forming lifelong friendships. If you’re looking for a nurturing, high-quality theater program, RATA is an excellent choice.
I would seek elsewhere for quality instruction and education. The favoritism here that teachers have with students is so palpable that even the kids know who is and isn't a favorite. I've never seen a school more disorganized and last-minute than this. The owner of the studio just flat-out won't respond to you most of the time. Emails are constantly sent at the absolute last minute (i.e. you need to be at this callback, which is on a holiday weekend, tomorrow)
This place is fantastic. My daughter has really enjoyed all 3 summer camps that she has attended this year. I was absolutely blown away by the performances and was almost moved to tears by how amazing all of the children were. These children had songs, lines and choreography memorized within 4 days!!!! That just shows how dedicated the instructors/teachers are. The staff is wonderful; so warm, helpful and kind. Every day that I dropped my daughter off I was greeted with a smile from the ladies at the front desk. I would definitely recommend Redmond Academy of Theatre!!!
