The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music is a locally owned contemporary music school at 1109 S. Washington Ave. in Royal Oak, running its Summer Rocks! music camp alongside year-round lessons, band programs and recording work. Campers play in groups, take lessons, learn music theory, songwriting and music production, work on teamwork and staging a show, and record in the school's own studio. The camp is split into a Kids Camp for ages 7-11 and a Teen Camp for ages 12-18, each a week-long session. The school works with the Live the Music Foundation to offer need-based tuition assistance to enrolled students.
