Then someone decided to split up the teams for playoffs—or whatever comes next—and it was one of the most disappointing things I’ve seen in a youth sports league. Our child knew he wasn’t the best on the team, but he was proud to be part of something. He showed up, practiced hard, and found joy in simply belonging. The coaches were phenomenal—teaching real-life lessons, building character, and creating a space where every kid felt valued. But this decision sent a different message: that you can work hard, grow with your team, and still be left behind when it’s time to shine. That’s a life lesson—but not one that makes sense for small children. Especially not when they’ve made it to the end, only to be told they’re not good enough to move forward. Instead, an “all-star” team was formed from other teams and it seems nobody was aware until they won some of their final game. We’re trying to help our child see the value in the experience, but it’s hard. Just before he found out, he asked if we were proud of his progress. That moment—his high followed by a crushing low—is something no kid should have to navigate alone. He read his final goodbye right before school and we can tell it's going to be rough.
Great family atmosphere here, kids love it. Lots of space for the kids and great playground equipment!
Provided production for the 2023 Food Truck Festival again this year.
There's a little bit for everyone here. From young kids anytime between 8am and 10 pm playground activities, to tennis courts, baseball, football, soccer field with seasonal teams, to open Tennis Courts a Library, Boxing Club and a Golden Age Center. Very friendly kids and adults. There's also a Library and the, "Golden Age Center" across the street along with the playground parking lot
This gym is overall excellent with sports and signing your child up to play a sport . But in my opinion they should let the children a least shoot on the basketball goal during free time the staff have. Yea I know it rules and regulations but, the staff of the terrytown gym can a least change the rules in the gym and let the the children shoot on it during free time when its no activities going on.
