Tech Rocks runs a summer tech camp at 4208 Olympic Avenue in San Mateo that deliberately alternates screen and off-screen time: campers rotate through typing fundamentals, an individual programming track pitched to their current level, game design basics, and projects such as Minecraft mods and Roblox game design, broken up by snack and recreation blocks. The camp day runs morning and afternoon sessions around a lunch break that campers bring themselves, with before care from 8-9 a.m. and after care from 3-6 p.m. at $15 an hour. Tech Rocks was founded by a San Mateo parent and IT executive and also runs after-school programs, spring and winter break camps, and Minecraft birthday parties at San Mateo, San Francisco and San Jose sites.

★★★★★Jenny KOur family loves Tech Rocks, my older son used to attend the San Francisco location's week-long camps and had a birthday party there, and my younger son has just finished his first summer week camp at the San Mateo location. They both loved attending and came back excited about working with computers (and my older son became a super fast typer). The SF location didn't survive the pandemic, sadly, but I'm willing to drive down to SM from SF (granted, I work on the Peninsula) for my younger son to attend!
★★★Nevada BaylorI've booked my son's part here before the quarantine, 2 months before his birthday. When it became clear that we can't have a part because of quarantine I've asked for refund. They said that I needed to wait until 4 days before the part to make sure that quarantine won't be lifted otherwise to refund. Finally, quarantine got extended way beyond my son's birthday and I still didn't receive the refund 1.5 months later. They keep on giving me different excuses each time. I'm a hard working single mother and the deposit money were definitely not extra. UPDATE: I did receive the full refund
